Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using TangoSpeak ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

TangoSpeak is a real-time spoken medical translation tool designed to assist healthcare providers in communicating with patients who speak different languages. The App supports 13 medical specialties and 9 languages, using Apple's on-device speech recognition, translation, and text-to-speech frameworks.

All processing occurs entirely on your device. No audio, text, or personal data is transmitted to any external server.

3. Medical Disclaimer

TangoSpeak is NOT a medical device. It is NOT FDA-cleared or approved by any regulatory body.

TangoSpeak is intended as a communication aid only. It is not a substitute for certified medical interpreters, qualified human translators, or professional language services.

TangoSpeak should NOT be used as the sole means of communication in high-stakes clinical situations, including but not limited to:

  • Obtaining informed consent for procedures or surgery
  • Psychiatric or mental health evaluations
  • End-of-life care discussions
  • Disclosing diagnoses of serious or life-threatening conditions
  • Any situation where a misunderstanding could result in patient harm

Machine translation, including on-device translation, may contain errors. Always use professional interpreters when accuracy is critical.

4. User Responsibilities

As a healthcare provider using TangoSpeak, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You are solely responsible for all clinical decisions made during patient encounters.
  • You will exercise professional judgment in determining when TangoSpeak is appropriate and when a certified medical interpreter is required.
  • You will verify critical translations through independent means when patient safety may be at risk.
  • You will comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies regarding language access services.

5. Subscription Terms

TangoSpeak offers a free trial of 7 sessions. After the trial period, continued use requires an active subscription:

  • Monthly: $29.99 per month
  • Annual: $299.00 per year

Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.

Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their App Store refund policies.

6. Intellectual Property

TangoSpeak, including its design, code, specialty glossaries, speech models, and all associated content, is the intellectual property of I Tango, LLC. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for its intended purpose in accordance with these Terms.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works based on the App or any part of it.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TangoSpeak and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the App, including but not limited to:

  • Translation errors or inaccuracies
  • Clinical decisions made based on translated content
  • Inability to use the App due to device limitations or software issues
  • Any patient outcomes related to communications facilitated by the App

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.

You may stop using the App at any time. To cancel your subscription, use your Apple ID account settings.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Texas.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised date. Your continued use of TangoSpeak after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
